Each question targets a different signal AI models use when deciding which brands to cite. Answer honestly for a useful result.

GEO Readiness Score

Takes about 2 minutes. Results appear immediately after you submit.

1 When you search your product category in ChatGPT or Perplexity (for example, "best [your category] software"), does your brand appear?

Test this right now if you have not already. Open ChatGPT or Perplexity, type "best [your category] software for [your ICP]" and see if your brand is mentioned.

2 Do your key service and landing pages include dedicated FAQ sections with direct, specific answers?

AI models extract FAQ content directly when forming answers. A FAQ section with vague or generic answers counts less than one with specific, citable responses.

3 Has your brand been mentioned or referenced by external sources outside your own website?

Count publications, industry review sites (G2, Capterra), press coverage, podcasts, community threads, or directories. AI models use external citations as trust signals.

4 Is your brand described consistently across your website, LinkedIn, and any external content?

AI models build a definition of your brand from multiple sources. If your positioning varies significantly across channels, citations become less accurate and less frequent.

5 Do you publish content targeting "best [category] tools," "vs." pages, or "[competitor] alternatives" queries?

These are the query types AI tools answer most often. If you are not publishing content that targets them, you are not in the pool of sources the model draws from when answering those queries.

6 Do your key pages use H2 and H3 headings that mirror how your buyers phrase questions?

AI models parse heading structure to extract citable answers. "How does X work?" as an H2 is more extractable than a heading like "Our Approach" covering the same topic.

    Score Guide

    What each score band means

GEO readiness is not binary. Most B2B SaaS companies are somewhere in the Emerging or Building range, with specific gaps that are fixable in 90 to 180 days.

Score Grade What it means Typical fix timeline
0 to 25 Not Visible Your brand is unlikely to appear in AI responses for your category. Basic structural and content changes can move this score significantly in 60 to 90 days. 60 to 90 days for initial visibility
26 to 50 Emerging You have some of the foundations in place, but gaps in external citations or query-targeted content are limiting how often AI models include you. Focus on the weakest category score first. 90 to 120 days to move to Building
51 to 75 Building You are appearing in AI contexts with some regularity. The next step is expanding the breadth of queries you appear for and tracking citation frequency systematically. 60 to 90 days of consistent output to reach Strong
76 to 100 Strong You have solid GEO foundations. Maintain citation breadth, monitor response quality (not just frequency), and document what is working so you can replicate it across more topic clusters. Maintenance mode with periodic audits
    FAQ

    Questions about GEO readiness

What is GEO and how is it different from SEO?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization. It is the practice of structuring your content and brand presence so that AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews are more likely to cite your brand when answering buyer queries. SEO is about ranking in traditional search results. GEO is about being cited in AI-generated answers. The two overlap significantly at the content level, but GEO puts additional emphasis on external authority signals, brand consistency, and structured content that AI models can extract and attribute.

Why does it matter whether AI tools cite my brand?

Buyers in B2B SaaS are increasingly starting research by asking AI tools rather than typing into Google. A buyer who asks Perplexity "what is the best content agency for B2B SaaS" and sees your brand cited is a warm inbound lead. A buyer who gets the same answer without your name has no reason to look for you. As AI-assisted research becomes the default for software buying decisions, brands that appear in those answers have a structural advantage over brands that do not.

How accurate is this GEO readiness score?

It is directionally useful, not precisely accurate. The questions are based on the factors that most consistently correlate with AI citation frequency: existing citation presence, FAQ structure, external authority, brand consistency, and query-targeted content. It cannot capture everything that matters, like the specific queries you need to rank for or your competitive citation share in a specific tool. It is designed to give you a starting framework for prioritizing GEO investments, not a definitive audit.

Can I improve my GEO readiness score quickly?

Some of the inputs can be improved in days. Adding FAQ sections to key pages, restructuring headings to mirror buyer questions, and ensuring brand consistency across channels are all changes that can be made in a few weeks. Building external citation breadth takes longer, typically 3 to 6 months of consistent content production and distribution. The fastest wins are usually on the structural side of content, not the authority signal side.

Do I need a separate GEO strategy or does my SEO strategy cover it?

A good SEO content strategy overlaps significantly with GEO, but SEO strategies typically do not explicitly target AI citation. The gaps are usually: (1) insufficient FAQ coverage on product and service pages, (2) no content targeting "best [category]" or "alternatives" queries that AI tools answer frequently, and (3) limited external citation breadth outside the usual backlink profile. You do not need to start from scratch, but you likely need to extend your existing strategy to cover these three gaps specifically.
